“Preliminary investigation of pre-historic earthquakes in the Grand River Tectonic Zone of north-central Missouri”

Join us on Wednesday, March 29, at 5:30 pm for a presentation from Dr. Jim Depa, a geologist and senior project manager at Jacob and Hefner Associates, Inc., titled:

“Using Statistical Modeling and Python to Efficiently Create 3D Deliverables and Design Remedial Options”

The meeting will be held at Terracon located at 11600 Lilburn Park Rd, St. Louis, Missouri. Dinner will be provided. RSVP by March 27, 2023 to attend.

The charge for this meeting is $5 for students, $10 for members, and $20 for non-members. Additionally, all members are encouraged to bring a friend/non-member free of charge (i.e. friends of AEG members will not be charged to attend this meeting)!

Join us on Thursday, July 6, at 4:00 pm for our free Summer Social event at The Armory STL. This is a joint venture with ASCE GI St. Louis Chapter.

The Armory is located at 3660 Market Street, St. Louis, MO 63110. Parking, located on the east side of the building, is free. We will meet and hang out to the right of the big screen TV; snacks and appetizers will be provided! RSVP by Friday, June 30, to attend.

This is a great networking opportunity for students and young professionals! And for good conversation between students, professionals, and academics. A big thank you to ASCE GI St. Louis Chapter for co-hosting with us!

On Wednesday, September 13, at 5:30 pm David Forseth will present a Redevelopment Case Study discussing how a standard due diligence project quickly turned into a HUD-required Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program project overseen by the MDNR. The case study will provide a brief background on the project and the initial due diligence required and then discuss how the project developed into a multi-agency environmental assessment and remediation project where communication and attention to small details was very important.

The meeting will be held at Schlafly Bankside, located at 920 South Main Street in St. Charles, Missouri. Parking is available along Main Street, in the public parking lot across Boone’s Lick Road to the south, and in the large public parking lots across the Katy Trail to the southeast. Sarah Kalika, AEG Vice President, will speak to the St. Louis Chapter on her Presidential Tour. Her talk will be titled “What’s in that Soil?”

Tuesday 11/7: Vince Cronin, the Jahns Lecturer, will give a talk titled “How can engineering geology help society meet the challenge of a changing climate?”. Vince Cronin’s career spans over the professional and academic sectors of geosciences and includes, but is not limited to, serving various roles in GSA’s Environmental and Engineering Geology Division, is an emeritus professor of geoscience at Baylor University, and editor of the 11th through the 13th editions of the AGI/NAGT Laboratory Manual in Physical Geology (Pearson). Follow the link here to learn more about Cronin’s impressive and diverse range of geoscience work.

The meeting will be held at the UES (Geotechnology) office located at 11816 Lackland Road, Suite 150, St. Louis, MO 63146. Enter via the employee doors in the large glass window on the back of the building. Dinner will be provided. RSVP on this website by March 25, 2023, to attend. Doors open at 5:30 and the meeting will get started at 6:00.
