Tuesday 11/7: Vince Cronin, the Jahns Lecturer, will give a talk titled “How can engineering geology help society meet the challenge of a changing climate?”. Vince Cronin’s career spans over the professional and academic sectors of geosciences and includes, but is not limited to, serving various roles in GSA’s Environmental and Engineering Geology Division, is an emeritus professor of geoscience at Baylor University, and editor of the 11th through the 13th editions of the AGI/NAGT Laboratory Manual in Physical Geology (Pearson). On Thursday, May 2, at 5:30 pm, Cynthia Delaney Palomares, P.G., P.E., a retired Texas A&M TEEX Adjunct Instructor with over 30 years of experience as both an Engineering Geologist and Environmental Engineer, will discuss “How Climate Change Impacts Infrastructure.” The presentation will discuss examples of extreme weather events that impact infrastructure and potential mitigation.
