Tuesday 11/7: Vince Cronin, the Jahns Lecturer, will give a talk titled “How can engineering geology help society meet the challenge of a changing climate?”. Vince Cronin’s career spans over the professional and academic sectors of geosciences and includes, but is not limited to, serving various roles in GSA’s Environmental and Engineering Geology Division, is an emeritus professor of geoscience at Baylor University, and editor of the 11th through the 13th editions of the AGI/NAGT Laboratory Manual in Physical Geology (Pearson). The meeting will be held at the Geotechnology office at 11816 Lackland Road Ste 150, St. Louis, MO 63146. Dinner will be provided. RSVP by November 6th, 2023, to attend.

Join us on Thursday, January 11th, at 4:30 pm for our free Winter Social event at The Armory STL. This is a joint venture with ASCE GI St. Louis Chapter.

The Armory is located at 3660 Market St, St. Louis, MO 63110. Free parking is located on the east side of the building. We will meet to the right of the big screen TV; snacks and appetizers will be provided! RSVP by Friday, January 5th, to attend.

We are excited to reconvene under one (MASSIVE) roof whilst having some food, drink and playing games together!

Anna Saindon, P.E., R.G., Ph.D. will discuss the Remediation and Restoration of an 11-Acre Industrial Site to Residential Use on the Hill in St. Louis.

The meeting will be held at the UES (Geotechnology) office located at 11816 Lackland Road, Suite 150, St. Louis, MO 63146. Enter via the employee doors in the large glass window on the back of the building. Dinner will be provided. RSVP on this website by March 25, 2023, to attend. Doors open at 5:30 and the meeting will get started at 6:00.

On Thursday, May 2, at 5:30 pm, Cynthia Delaney Palomares, P.G., P.E., a retired Texas A&M TEEX Adjunct Instructor with over 30 years of experience as both an Engineering Geologist and Environmental Engineer, will discuss “How Climate Change Impacts Infrastructure.” The presentation will discuss examples of extreme weather events that impact infrastructure and potential mitigation.

The meeting will be held at Terracon at 11600 Lilburn Park Road St. Louis, MO 63146. Dinner will be provided.

Duane’s family wanted us to pass information along to everyone about his Celebration of Life, which will be held on Wednesday, June 19 between 3pm and 7pm at Spazio Westport – Comfort Inn Westport Event Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The event will be held within the “Wildwood View space” at the facility. A map link to this facility is here:

Duane’s family has invited everyone to attend. We anticipate several family, friends and colleagues of Duane’s will be present. If you’re able to attend, please come share stories/memories and celebrate the life of our dear friend and colleague, Duane Kreuger.

Duane Kreuger passed away unexpectedly while on a fishing trip in Minnesota on May 26, 2024 at the age of 54.  Duane was the current President of the AEG Foundation and a Past President of AEG, among other titles. He most recently was employed at UES (formerly Geotechnology) in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Throughout his 29 years of membership in AEG, Duane remained an active volunteer – contributing to many operational committees.  He was honored with the Piteau Young Member Award in 2004, Floyd T. Johnston Service Award in 2016, served as President of AEG in 2010, and was President of the AEG Foundation in 2023-2024.

Anna Saindon is collecting photographs and stories and writing a memorial article for Duane for the AEG News. If you have photographs or stories you’d like to contribute to the article, please send them to asaindon at by the end of June.

Memorial donations may be made in Duane’s name to the AEG Foundation, to any fund. Please include Duane’s name when donating as matching funds are anticipated.
