November 2022 Meeting

Wednesday 11/16: Join us on Wednesday, November 16, at 5:30 pm for two presentations:

Dr. Evgeniy “Eugene” Torgashov, Ph.D., Geophysics Project Manager at Geotechnology, LLC will present on “Keys to a Successful Geophysical Survey.”

Dr. Ronaldo Luna, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, Professor of Civil Engineering at Saint Louis University will discuss restructuring and merging programs in the science and engineering sides of the geotechnics discipline.

The meeting will be held at Geotechnology located at 11816 Lackland Rd # 150, St. Louis, MO 63146. Dinner will be provided.

There will be no charge to attend the November meeting!

May 2022 Chapter Meeting

Wednesday 5/18: Maddie German, P.G., President of the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists, will present on two topics: “The State of AEG” and “A Not So Routine Hydrogeological Study.”

The meeting will be held at the office of Geotechnology, LLC at 11816 Lackland Road, Suite 150, St. Louis, Missouri 63146.  Please RSVP to attend by Tuesday, May 17. Cost for attendance is $10 for students, retirees, and those between jobs; $20 for members, and $25 for non-members. Dinner is included.

April 2022 Chapter Meeting (In-Person)

Thursday April 21, 2022 5:30 PM CDT

Thursday 4/21: Join us on Thursday, April 21, at 5:30 pm for a presentation from Tessa Mortensen, M.S. Student in the Geological Engineering Program at Missouri S&T. Ms. Mortensen will share her Master’s research titled “Study of Contamination Resulting from Historical Mining Within the Old Lead Belt: Mineral Fork Watershed, Conducted 2021-2022.”

The meeting will be held at C.J. Muggs in the lower level of the Webster Grove location. A Google map is available at http://www.cjmuggs.com/map_webster.htm. Private Banquet Room Entrance (no stairs required). Park on the lower level of the Public Parking Garage located off Gore Ave (behind our building). If Parking Mon-Fri Until 5:00 pm *Follow City Parking Signs for available parking spots. You can enter garage from any of the 3 alleys on Gore (Gore and Moody).  As you walk from the garage to the building on the ground level, enter the Gorelock building using the far-left door (103R Lockwood).

Tuesday 3/8: Join us on Tuesday, March 8, at 5:30 pm for a presentation from Richard Wooten, the 2021-2022 Jahns Distinguished Lecturer. Richard will present to the Chapter on “Going Against the Grain:  Linking Brittle Cross-Structures with Landslides, Hydrogeology, and Earthquakes in the North Carolina Blue Ridge and Piedmont.” The meeting will be held at the office of Geotechnology, LLC at 11816 Lackland Road, Suite 150, St. Louis, Missouri 63146.

Teresa Baraza will speak on “Quantifying Microplastic Debris Transport and Sourcing for a Karstic System,” and Carly Finegan will speak on “Using Low Cost Measurements of Optical Brighteners for Rapid, In-Situ Reconnaissance of Wastewater Inputs to Water Resources.” The meeting will be held at Helen Fitzgerald’s located at 3650 S Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63127.
